When the lights go out

When the lights go out forever,

On one of us and all;

What will we do upon that day

When society does fall?

Will we cower in the darkness,

Or follow some new light?

Will we huddle round small fires

Or learn to walk anew?

‘tis in the darkness half the day

Humanity once grew.

When we walked upon sweet Gaia

Those shadows did we fear;

Our current fears and lifestyles

Make the truth unclear.

We look at how ‘the old ones’ lived

With the minds of folk today

And see the minds of Elders

To be twisted like ‘our way’.

We condemn ourselves to this world;

Fear is our path not theirs.

They lived their lives without our fears;

They lived without our cares.

They lived a simple, honest life;

A life where truth was known.
