There is a place that I once knew
where happiness just grew and grew.
Where folk were greeted with a smile
and asked to linger for a while.
People would laugh and play and sing;
a place where all could ‘do their thing’.
But way back then I did not know
it was a place where I could go
to live in peace till my life’s end
and so my future then did bend
into a world where all was straight;
no one smile no one would wait
to do the things that really matter
else their busy worlds would shatter.
Now, at the other end of time
I see this world as such a crime.
We’ve built much, made lots of cash,
built towers that are soon to crash
around the heads of those who pray
to their god ‘Mammon’ on that day.
So now while I sit and wonder who
I’ll be next time and what I’ll do.
Hello cruel world, I’m here to join this circus.
