‘Knowing’

One day a man invented ‘knowing’ a wondrous way to be;
it was the one thing he knew, could set the whole world free.
And so he went on ‘knowing’ teaching it to many more
but many would own ‘knowing’ and of course this led to war.
They battled then for eons simply to own this gentle art;
if one knew more than another, a battle to own would start.
For time so long it did not count their knowing was for war
and never did they think to look behind the other door.
‘Cos ‘knowing’ doesn’t matter if it just leads to a fight,
but ‘sharing’ does not fit in a world where you are ‘right’.
So now we sit upon this world where ‘knowing’ is the all
and fight into a standstill – where all folk will soon fall.
Perhaps, someday a child will come and teach all to ‘care’
so we can put away our ‘knowing’ and learn to simply share.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
