UnFolding Green

Sometimes I look around me and wonder where I’ve been;

why don’t I have a big house and lots of folding green?

It’s then that I remember the choice was always mine;

‘twas me who lived the ‘other life’ and didn’t toe the line.

Now my house is a bit pokey and needs a few repairs

and my car is not real fancy but nobody really cares.

I’ve learned a lot and grown a bit and met my heart’s desire

and if I said I haven’t had a ball I’d be a bloody lair.

Occasionally I’ll treat myself but mostly it’s just fun

to go bush with the family and walk free in the sun.

I’m so well off in many ways and happy as a lark

for out the door and up the road there is the bush; my park.

And by my side and in my heart the family of my dreams

so my life is just amazing no matter how it seems.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
