Despair

The despair of this world brings tears to my eyes;

how do we survive in this land full of lies?

Torn now asunder; cloven in twain;

a world full of hatred writhing in pain.

Fascism rises on every side;

there’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

Where will it all end, a land torn in two;

how can we be real and find truth anew.

A fractured society with no peace of mind;

in this world of hate, is there love to find.

We’ll all pay the Piper for what we have done;

for the hatred and pain that we have begun.

Conflict doesn’t work ‘cos nobody wins;

it’s just a deep hole where we throw our sins.

The cesspool of life that will haunt our days

unless we wake up; change our wicked ways.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
