The River

A river flows around me, I don’t know where it goes

I only feel the sweet caress as it gently flows.

It starts somewhere beyond me; a tiny spring appears,

then it joins with others as it meanders through the years.

By the time it reaches me it’s wide beyond compare

And as I drift along with it, it cleanses me of care.

I know that it goes somewhere, that river of the land

and one day, if I’m lucky, I’ll reach the ocean sand

to immerse myself forever in the warm caress of love

and float upon that ocean with the sunshine bright above.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
