Karma

The choices that I’ve made and make
decide life’s journeys I can take;
a life that’s led to cause no harm
brings nought to spirit but a calm.
But if I should choose ‘the other way’
then in the end ‘tis me who’ll pay.
For Karma is the state I’ll find;
what I give I’ll get in kind.
Not only acts but thoughts as well
set the pitch of my life’s bell.
If my thoughts are of harm or pain
then in return that’s what I’ll gain.
So it’s in my interest not to wrong
for the resonance that’s my life’s song.
It is my song – composed alone;
the story of how my life has grown.
The tale that tells of all I’ve been,
the wrongs I’ve done – the rights I’ve seen.
It is the tale that’s my life’s truth
from old age back to misspent youth.
What’s written there for all to see
is this person I call “me”.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
