Freedom

If I could just buy freedom, then what would I do;
Could I still dance with an Angel as wonderful as you?
Or would I be weighed down by the burden I would bear
and spend my life protecting my new toy with such care.
But though we all seek freedom – fight battles for it too;
no freedom bought or fought for could be as great as you.
My love for you is freedom; true freedom of the heart
and to ‘possess’ a thousand freedoms from you I’d never part.
For all yachts need an anchor and a breeze to set them free
and you my precious darling are this and more to me.
You are the one who holds me when my mind goes flying wild,
But more than that, you are the one, the mother of our child.
Without you I would be adrift on the wild oceans of my mind
Without the beacon of my ‘lighthouse’ always there to find.
I sometimes wonder where I’d be without your guiding hand,
I see an empty vessel, devoid of life’s hourglass sand.
And so my love I thank you for the joining of our hearts,
for your first touch upon my soul – that’s where the healing starts.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
