I am the cutest little guy
Big black eyes so I can see at night
I really am a fantastic sight
My outer hair is black or brown
white beneath that; soft as down
Sweet nectar from the Eucalypt tree
With fruit and seeds is food for me
To climb and run high in the trees
And live a life of quiet ease
If the food I want is too far away
Then I’ll still eat that very day
My tail can reach far like a paw
So I can always eat some more
My Pygmy Possum life
With my babies and lovely wife
Is lived at night – that’s when I wake
While a daytime, sleep I take
I need our forests to survive
Please help me keep my kind alive
The trees I need to live today
Are quickly being dragged away
And cats are coming to my home
Killing machines who at night roam
Killing us; the Pygmy possum
While feeding on the gum tree blossom
Please ask the loggers to stay away
And only let cats out through the day
That way we can all live together
Those of skin and fur and feather
