On Growing a Pair

It’s time to leave the angry man somewhere far behind
and find instead a gentleman, with a calm gentle mind.
But sometimes that’s quite hard as every man will say
because we have all grown up told to get our way.
‘Bite your tongue’ ain’t easy if you have to fight and win
and you’ve grown up being told that to lose is like a sin.
A failure to all manhood that’s what you were before,
now you’re just a bastard for thinking your words law.
But somehow manhood’s got to change; be reborn again,
though that simple process will be wrought with birthing pain.
But, we are men, we’ll do it, and grow a bit each day
till sometime in the future the world’s a better way.
