We grew up always ‘knowing’ that maledom meant ‘Right’.

We grew up with the ‘knowledge’ that real men could fight.

But where has it got this world where we live?

What is the gift to our children we give?

How do we feel when we see what we’ve left;

a world where common decency is totally bereft?

The Peace Generation’s left a great weeping sore;

the values are spouted we follow no more.

It’s time for the real to stand up for what matters;

we must leave this false picture of maledom in tatters.

It’s not for the victims to stand up and say no;

it’s up to male bullies to turn tail and go.

This dominance battle hurts us if it succeeds;

It’s love and compassion that each of us needs.

No matter if you’ve ever “done it” or not

the guilt of the actions belong to our lot.

So real men must rise to this challenge we face

and stop all the violence; our gender’s disgrace.
