Peace

We fight our wars for petty ‘gods’;
“the divine will overcome all odds.”
We battle on to win the day
so all will follow our god’s way.
It seems that “god” really means “war;”
are all gods hatred, lust and gore?
If so, then god is not for me,
I’ll be a heathen, proud and free.
A martyr for the cause of nought;
a man who’s lived but has not fought.
A man questing to be free of hate
and finds no blood-lust he must sate.
And if this means it’s hell for me
I know that is where peace will be.

About a foolhardy florilegium

Nullius addictus iurare in verba magistri, quo me cumque rapit tempestas, deferor hospes.
