If we listened to the Wise Ones, I wonder what they’d say
About our state of consciousness and how we live today.
Would they marvel at our greatness for all that we achieve?
Or would they simply shake their heads and with no comment leave?
For in ourselves we see so much; the greatness we have made,
but when it comes to things that matter, have we made the grade?
Would the Buddha see the glory in the wars we fight each day?
Would Jesus see the beauty in this, our modern way?
Or would they both be bathing the feet of those we reject?
In my heart it is the latter; that’s what I’d expect!
And if the mighty Mohamed walked the paths of his fair land
would he think that his folk had built a thing that’s grand?
Or would he simply lower his head and walk away in shame
at what the current leaders did and still do in his name?
