Innocence

Some days I could just strangle her, my precious little child
but then she smiles her innocence; a treasure oh so mild.
Love shines through her sweet eyes – I know I’m being conned
by the cloak of pure innocence, my darling now has donned.
A cloak that says “I love you Dad, with love that’s oh so true”
and any chance of being mad, that sweetest look just blew.
But I know I can’t just let her win so biting back my smile
I stand up and do the Daddy act, for just a little while.
Then we’ll settle down and cuddle, ‘cos that’s just our way
Then off we’ll go with limits set – another fun filled day!
