Nationalism is a dirty word today;

it now means Nazis out to play

but what is ‘nationalistic pride’,

is it really a thing we should hide?

Our nation is us, where we belong;

we need to find new words to our song.

If I’m not proud of me, where to I stand?

To be really free I need to be ‘of the land’.

No nation in history stood without pride;

in shame our spirits will crumble and hide.

Stand and be proud of where you belong;

stand tall and we’ll sing our freedom song.

Fear not what our ancestors left behind,

the future is ours to travel and find

The space in our heart – our country to love;

look into this earth and the heavens above,

put our feet to soil and feel the heart beat

then it is Gaia’s true spirit we’ll greet.

Any foot that it feels grows proud and strong

for Gaia knows that foot does belong

to place, to country, to earth and to sky,

Country and its love that money can’t buy.

So accept that now our country is here

and walk into our future without any fear.

This pride in our nation is power of place

And with it there is no fear we can’t face.

Pride in our nation is not ‘far right’ hate

Pride in our nation is what makes us great.

I can’t find one nation, tribe, community, spiritual belief, religion or individual that has done more than survive for a short time, let alone flourish, with no pride in itself. This, combined with a lack of self respect, respect for others, and respect for any existing social norms or values has today resulted in a society of errant children running around looking for anything to blame for anything and everything, complain about and or destroy.
Our loss of tribal/national identity is destroying us as individuals and as a society.
The problem many of us have today is finding a society worth belonging to this has led to fanatics at both ends of the spectrum suddenly seeming sane and gathering a following.
