While walking in a forest a little while ago
I saw a sight I’d never seen; I thought you’d like to know.
A way up there amongst the clouds, as high as I could see
was a wise old Gum Tree who stood and bowed to me
then it started dancing, a wonder to behold
and where the rhythm moved it, the clouds would all unfold.
It danced a dance of freedom and lands as yet unknown.
It danced the beauty of it’s life, the seeds that it had sown.
It danced after the sun went down as it still does today,
it danced on to the rhythm of a joyous ‘other way’,
a way to live, a way to love, a way to simply be
and as it danced it sang a song of how we could be free.
I hope one day I learn that dance and pirouette in the sky;
‘twould be a wondrous dance to do, just once before I die.
To trip the light fantastic up where the Angels sing;
to act like I’m a Gum Tree that’s somehow taken wing.
Then, while I slept it danced on with it’s message in the air;
On that day I thanked the gods that that Gum Trees was there.
Hello cruel world, I’m here to join this circus.
